Karang Guni!!

Haha went down to Jurong area to help out for Karang Guni. Wasn't there for the last karang guni session because of my cruise trip, so I wanted to make sure that I could help as much as I could this time. And it was also good to see that so many people actually turned up. Overall, I would sum it up as tiring, but fun actually. Haha I still remember the last time I did this, was way back in Sec 1 or 2 or somewhere there. I also remember the incident where one auntie spoke to me in hokkien, and I was left stunt there not knowing how to reply. Somehow I understood her but didnt know how to reply. Think I stood there blankly for almost 2 minutes till my friend came to save me. Haha.

Overall, we collected alot yesterday. When I stood at the collection point nearing the end of everything, I was really amazed and how much we had collected. I think even the buyer of our stuff was shocked at how much we collected. Haha, a fruitful day indeed.

For arts camp, sign up has been great so far. Things are looking rather positive lately, although with some set backs here and there. But as mentioned, I think the past few weeks, and pre camp itself, has made all of us stronger and better prepared to take on any challenges that come our way. Well, another busy week up ahead, before arts camp week! And oh, had dinner with Bit, Reuben, Mich, Evelyn and Shuping. It had been quite a while since we had such dinners after long days, and it was again a real nice feeling chatting with each other over a long dinner :)

Pre Camp!!

Well Pre Camp just ended yesterday, and actually, I really had many thoughts to blog about after camp ended yesterday, but I was soo tired and forgot to bring my lappie charger home (really getting senile), so I went straight to bed. And today somehow or rather, I just cannot consolidate the thoughts that I had yesterday, there is juz too many. So I will try my best to pen down whatever I can here.

Well overall, I would say I am very pleased at how Pre Camp worked out. Really really wanna thank my comm, my house ICs, and all who turned up for Pre Camp, for making all this possible. I guess being a freshmen PD, I had never really knew what to expect, but I am really glad it all turned out very fine. I could see the spirit of last year's arts camp coming back to everyone, and now I am TOTALLY excited about the upcoming Arts Camp. I am sure everyone learnt alot from just this 2 days of Pre Camp. For me personally, I learnt alot, and Pre Camp has definitely better prepared me for the actual camp itself. There were many ups and quite a few downs, but eventually, I am glad those downs happened, as it better prepared us both technically and mentally.

Well, of course, now that Pre Camp is over, its back to more work to ensure that the actual Arts Camp itself will really be a blast. Still many many things to do. Oh and for one thing, I am happy at how Pre Camp went, but I am even happier at how my o-comm grew closer after Arts Camp. I was just so happy at how they helped each other, how they better bonded and communicated, how they started to joke around, how they started to work so well with each other. I juz cannot describe how delighted I am at what I saw and felt during Pre Camp. Just really hope this gets better, and I am quite sure it would.

There is just so many things else, but I guess it is just impossible to pen everything down. All I know is that this Pre Camp will definitely be etched in my memory for a real long time. Really just cannot wait for Arts Camp to come now. Afro! Rumpa! Turbu! Spartan!

Arts Camp Journey So Far

Eventhough Pre Camp is just tomorrow, and Arts Camp is about 2-3 weeks away, the journey for my committee and myself, is already more than halfway completed. I wouldn't really speak for them on this, but for myself, I think just from the planning stages of Arts Camp itself, I have learnt and gained just soooo much. New friendships have been made, old friendships have been better forged, and more important, the amount of experienced gained is just so much. I think what I have learnt is not only applicable to future planning of activities (if any), but would also affect me as a person, and how I go about doing things and seeing things in future. As mentioned in my previous posts, it was also through this planning stages, that I could identify my weakness, and possibly work on it.

Alike MC life, many of us knew what was installed ahead for us when running, but only until we really experienced everything, that we truly understand the challenge that was long awaiting us. It is pretty much the same here for Arts Camp. There were ups and downs along the way, mistakes made here and there (and more mistakes which will surely happen), but I guess whats important is that there are mistakes for us to learn from. I personally believe mistakes are unavoidable. I mean if everything were to be smooth and perfect, there wouldn't even be a need for a committee. So yups, its still some way to the end of this journey, and I know what I have gained already. Just hope its the same for everyone in my comm.

And oh, the famous MC quote. 'Whatever it is, things will work out'. If one reads this quote, the response will definitely be, we can't just rely on this, as hard work has to be definitely put in for things to work. I totally agree, but somehow or rather, this quote just seems to work rite. Haha a blessing for me to fall back on ;)

Listed!

Something more pleasant to blog about today. Just now, I was surfing the net and then I decided to check out the dates for the module preference exercise. And as I was going through the new FASS website, I realised at the top right corner of the page, it was actually the Dean's List for Semester 2 06/07!

And for maybe only once in my NUS life (hopefully not), I am in the Dean's List!! Just so so so happy to see my name on that list. Still rememebered how Reuben told me about that list last year (of course because he was in it), that I started scrolling down the list and found quite a few familiar names, from seniors, to secondary school friends, to Reuben and Remmy. I was thinking how I wished I could be in that list for once. And yeah, I finally made it. Yeah! First thing I'm gonna do is to tell my parents. For once, I have something good related to my studies, to share with them.

Well, the list was actually out for 4 days already, but I was so tied up with Arts Camp stuff that I totally forgot about checking the site frequently for this list. Anyway, it was out much earlier than I expected. Lets just hope I can get the opportunity to post such an entry again.

Try and Try Again

To start, pardon me for this very confusing and boring entry.

You know, for many academic journals, it usually starts off with the author's hypothesis on a theory, and then moving on to do a study or experiment to justify the hypothesis, and would usually end off either saying that the study proves the theory right or wrong. And at times, the conclusion would also state that the theory is neither right nor wrong, but perhaps should be modified a little. Why the mention of all this boring theory stuff? Well, I just experienced it in real life, in a different context of course.

People always say that 'if at first you fail, try and try again. One day you will succeed'. This usually works, or is usually the best recommended advice for working. But after my so called 'experiment' through some life experience, I would like to correct this 'theory'. It should be 'if at first you fail, try and try again. But if there is a nearing deadline, and if you keep trying and failing, then you will most probably never succeed'.

I shall name this, Jeremy's Theory of Dreaded Deadlines. Trying, and trying, and trying ...

Arts Camp 07 Progress

Well, Pre-Camp is just next week. Somehow the number of things to do seems to be never ending. I guess that only means that you can never have a perfect camp, but all you can really do is to keep pushing and working hard to ensure a camp which is as near to perfect as possible.

Starting to feel the excitement, picturing how Arts Camp and Pre Camp will be like. But then again, my mind is filled with some worries too. Hmm ...

Anyway not sure what the outreach of my blog is. From what I guess it is just my closer friends. Anyway, if anyone else chances upon my blog, would want to take this opportunity to make a shout out about the arts camp webbie, all thanks to caleb.

The delay in mail run is worrying me a little too. But thank goodness the responses from the e-mail has been good so far. Please keep the mails coming in!

Cruise to No Where

Just came back from a cruise. It was a cruise to no where, but apparently the service onboard the cruise was 'no where' either. First, we spent almost 2 hours at the dinner table, with at least one and a half hours waiting. And can you believe it, when you ask the waitress whats taking them so long, they reply you that 'we are just too busy'. I had to be a 'make shift' waiter to get water, and bread that we ordered since stepping in never came. Some people just left halfway, and almost every single customers' face were black and impatient. That was just one incident. Many followed, like horrible disembarkation system, horrible supper system etc. etc. which just caused us to wait, and wait, and wait. Just cannot believe that them, being on of the leading cruise liners in the region, actually provide such sub standard services. Thank goodness it was only a one night cruise. Could have just died in there waiting for things to happen. Anyway, that is perhaps my last time on the Libra. The Virgo is so much better.

Well, before going for the cruise, actually went to Sentosa for our arts camp outing. Eventhough I was only there for like 2 hours plus, I would say I enjoyed myself. Right from the start I was not really expecting many to turn up, as I realised that the date I had set actually clashed with quite a few holiday plans, but fortunately quite a few still turned up. Am just glad that things eventually turned out well, and dodgeball was really fun. A big thanks to those who turned up. You all were really really fun to be with.

As someone once told me, no matter what efforts you make, there will definitely be some who appreciate and cherish it, and some who do not appreciate it as much. But the important thing is to note that as long as there is one person who appreciates your efforts, the show will still go on.

The dates are drawing near ...
